The beach looked beautiful as the light of the setting sun fell upon it. As the wind blew it scatered the sweet smelling blossoms of the trees, even if there was none close by, letting them fall upon the oceans surface. A black jacket also blew in the wind, Keller Valentine stood at the water edge, like a goddess from one of her younger brothers bedtime stories. Watching nature and admiring it.
Keller gently pulled on the ribbon the held back her silky black and electric blue hair, she tied the ribbon around her left wrist as not to lose it. She gently ran her fingers through her hair to sort it so it was at clumped together, she moved it so that it fell around her shoulders. Her black jacket settled around her ankles as the breeze died down, the elbow length sleeves rested gently against her skin. Her top is red and a corset which looked stunning though Keller didn't think it suited her. Black fingerless gloves covered her hands, dark blue faded jeans hung on her hips, hiding her knee high black lace up boots.
Keller gently folded her arms across her chest as she sighed. She looked up at the sky. It was going to rain. She blinked twice as a single raindrop fell onto her forehead and ran down her cheek like a tear. It began to quickly rain harder, the rain soaked her clothes and hair, marked her cheeks like she'd been crying.
She looked to the water. Her cat like eyes of browny red scanning every little detail of her surroundings. Even in the rain it looks beautiful she thought to herself.
She looked like a wet dark angel as she turned to look away from the lake. Her hair ran to her elbows, covering her shoulders and adding to her wetness. Her eyes seemed almost sad as she looked away from the water and towards the hotels. She'd heard something.........

Jackson had been jogging through the town, and down to the beach, just to be able to move in the sand, when he felt the rain start falling. Oh well, so much for training. He figured he would just go down to the beach still, and watch the sun go down. But upon getting closer to the beach, he saw he wasn't the only one there. He felt his light t-shirt and blue jogging shorts were weighing him down slightly, taking on water from the constant rain, feeling the soft drops pound down on his face. Now on the beach, Jackson had a better view of who it was, that was on the beach with him tonight. Keller, one of his good friends, more than that? Who knows. Jackson wished it so, but he couldn't bring it to himself to tell her.
Seeing that she seemed to be preoccupied with something, he moved quickly and quietly, sneaking up behind her, his footsteps almost silent in the wetting sand. Slipping his wet hands over Keller's eyes, he spoke softly, a soft, happy voice. "Guess who?"

" Oh I don't know, Jackson Davis maybe?" she said with a smile as she gently took his hands and turned around. " Now how did I know?" she said in her usual soft and what some guys would say suductive voice. She hadn't realised she was still holding his hands. Her damp hair fell around her shoulders rather neatly. She laughed softly. " You look wet," she said calmly as she let go of his hands and gently wiped a single ran drop from his cheek, her gentle fingertips brushed his skin softly.
" So......How's it going for you?" she asked as she shook the thoughts of wanting to tell him how she felt about him from her mind. There's only a slim chance he might like me....Why put myself through the pain of rejection if he doesn't? If he gives any signs of liking me I'll think about telling him, she thought to herself as she looked into his eyes. Big mistake on her part, mostly because she blushed.

"Aww, lucky guess maybe." Jackson said with a soft smile. Jackson looked down to see their hands were still together. He gave a little, nervous smile. This was awkward, they were friends, although Jackson did like her, and it was a little strange. He had considered trying to give up his feelings for Keller, and just stick to the easier girls, that he usually has one night stands with. Oh well, who knows what he is going to do. "I couldn't imagine why?" He asked sarcastically, his heart giving a small leap when she wiped the raindrop off of his cheek.
"Things are going good I guess. Basketball practice has been wiping me out, and I think I'm going to fail like, all of my classes this year, but other than that, not bad." He said with a smile. "How have you been doing?" Jackson asked, right before their eyes met, which brought up an involuntary, nervous grin. Another wonderfully awkward moment between them.

" You know, it's been ok," she turned from him and walked so she was standing at the waters edge. " I'm not coping with this, I was never meant to be ' Lady Keller Valentine ' and now I am it feels so not like me. I've never had this before," she said softly. " And to make things worse, my....house keepers are throwing a Ball to welcome me home," she wanted to laugh at that.
" They all think I should get myself a boyfriend and relax, let who I am show," she said with a sigh. " I'm scared to do that, I've never really been myself, always what someone else wants me to be. For the first time I'm actually me," she said softly with a smile. She turned and looked at him.

"You? A Ball?" Jackson asked with a small laugh. "Lady Keller Valentine?" He asked, secretly amused by all of this. "That's nothing like you, doesn't anyone realize this?" Jackson asked softly, more sincerely, as he followed her as she walked, standing behind her at the water's edge. "Well, if it helps any, I like you as yourself, and don't think you should change yourself." Jackson inputed with a small smile, as Keller turned around to look at him.

" Wow, you'd be the only one, they're trying to make me wear a dress," she said. That was extreme for her as she has never worn a dress before in her life. " Don't laugh at the fact that I have a title," she said with a smile laugh. She looked at him, he was being so sweet to her. " Thank you," she said softly. She had a theory and now needed to test it.
She held her arms out gesturing for a hug, she did like a hug every now and then but very few guys were offered one by her. She smiled at him, still slightly shocked that he liked her for who she really was.

"You in a dress?" Jackson said with a laugh, sticking out his tounge. Although she wasn't really the dressy kind of person, Jackson thought Keller would look good in a dress. "Hey, there's nothing wrong with it, I would love to be a 'Lady Jackson Davis'." He said with another grin, just to make her smile. "Hey, don't worry about it, its no problem." Jackson said, giving Keller the hug that she was gesturing for.

Keller nearly fainted, maybe he did like her after all. She smiled at him. " I don't think you'd suit the whole Lady look," she said calmly. " Your a cool guy Jackson," she said sweetly, she was flirting ever so slightly. She gently rested her head on his shoulder as she hugged him, she slowly let her eyes close then opened them again as she remembered the last time she'd closed her eyes while on a beach with a guy. She'd ended up in the water.
" So...shall we be seeing you at the ball? If your were to come I'd think about showing up," she said with a smile as she looked him in the eyes.

"Eh, maybe not. Oh well, I guess I won't ever be a Lady." He said with a smile. "I'll live." "Thanks Keller." Jackson said stupidly, not able to think of anything else to say. He really did like getting compliments like that from people, especially from Keller, or his parents, if they really mean it. For a moment, Jackson softly rubbed a hand softly up and down Keller's back during the hug, as he felt her head on his shoulder. Okay, maybe there was something more than just a basic friendship between them. And if he did get together with Keller, how is this going to affect him? Oh well, Jackson didn't care, he was going to let things roll.
"Uh...me, at a ball? Have you lost it?" Jackson asked with a large smile, before letting it begin to fade as he looked in her eyes. "Well, maybe I will go. I'd do anything to see you in a dress." He said with a wink, sticking his tounge out at her playfully.

She looked at him and smiled. " I might just have to hide now," she said softly. She stuck her tongue out at him, not a very lady like thing to do but she didn't care, she looked at the ground to hide the fact that she was blushing. She softly kissed his cheek.
" I hope you do come, I'll need a friendly face there." she said softly and she meant it, she really did want him to come. Sure her friend Lestat would be there but she wanted someone she really cared about to be there, she wanted Jackson there.

"Oh, we both know you don't want to hide from me." Jackson said with a smile, puzzled slightly when she looked down, and then surprised when she kissed his cheek.
"Hey, I wouldn't miss it for the world, I'll be there." Jackson said with a reassuring smile, and, building up his bravery, throwing his feelings out there, preparing for change, ignoring the fact that she was a senior while he was still a junior, did what he wanted to do for a while. "You know, I've always wanted to kiss someone in the rain." Jackson said softly, feeling the rain sprinkle upon them lightly, as he put a hand to her cheek, and softly pressed his lips against hers.

Keller was slightly shocked when he kissed her but shocked even more when she found herself kissing him back. She gently pulled back. " Well now you have," she said softly. She looked at him, blushing ever so slightly, she gently slipped her arms around his neck, once again resting her head on his shoulder.
She could feel her heart pounding away in her chest, she closed her eyes as she took a deep breath then slowly opened them again. " I'm guessing you know how I feel about you," she said in her soft and suductive voice. She looked at him, her arms still around his neck before kissing him again.

Jackson could hardly believe this turn of events, he felt happier than he had in a long time, and more exhausted than he had in a while. "I guess you are right." Jackson answered with a small, barely noticeable smile. When Keller rested her head on Jackson's shoulder, Jackson softly kissed Keller's neck. He felt so much better now that this was out in the open, that Keller liked him too, that all of this had happened the way it did, on a beach during the sunset, with a soft rain pouring down. " Yeah, I think I've got a clue." He answered softly, before the kissing began once again.

She smiled at him, blushing slightly. " This wasn't part of my plan for the day but well...I'm glad it happened," she said softly. She looked at the sunset. " You'd think I'd planned this wouldn't you? The beach, the sunset even the rain," she said softly. She looked at him, she gently rested both her hands on his chest, a single raindrop fell making it look like a tear was running down her cheek. She looked at him still smiling. She was glad her family had persuaded her to come back here.
She turned away from him to watch the sunset as it slowly faded over the horizon.
